BFA Participates in Operation School Bell

Thanks to Officer Mike Bland (Officer-in-Charge of LAPD Youth Programs/BFA Community Outreach Chair), the Bruin Fan Alliance was proud to participate in this year's Operation School Bell.

Operation School Bell describes it's mission as:

Annually provides underserved and at-risk school children new clothing and supplies. Children from disadvantaged circumstances have a better chance to attend school and academically succeed when they do not wear their poverty. Last year, over 5,000 children were given uniforms, shoes, grooming kits, backpacks and school supplies at our Hollywood location and via our mobile facility Operation School Bell on Wheels.

Check out a new podcast with Aaron Hester and Dietrich Riley

In this episode we are joined by two very special guests, former UCLA football players Aaron Hester and Dietrich Riley. Both come courtesy of the Bruin Fan Alliance which is a charitable organization that looks to bring fans and alumni together and we get the lowdown from these two Bruins. We also talk a little bit about football, so that happened!

Bruin Fan Alliance members:

On October 13th 2015, Bruin Fan Alliance Advisory Board members had the opportunity to meet with Josh Rebholz, Senior Associate Athletic Director for External Relations at UCLA, and Aaron Sapiro, Associate Director of Development, to discuss the issues and topics deemed most important by our BFA membership community as revealed in the survey completed nearly two weeks ago.

We are pleased to report that our meeting was productive and informative. Each and every survey completed was included in a package we provided Josh and Aaron.  We are resolute in our stated goal to provide all of our members the opportunity for input, opinions and suggestions to be passed directly to representatives of the UCLA Athletic Department.

We have also included the Power Point presentation from October 13th in order to allow our entire Alliance member community full access to the talking points of our meeting. We will continue to maintain our unwavering commitment of respectful dialogue and positive interaction as we aim to assist with the overall growth of UCLA sporting programs.  Currently, the Athletic Department is reviewing our submission package and will reply with thoughts and comments shortly.

The Bruin Fan Alliance will strive to introduce programs and platforms aimed at building a deeper sense of Bruin family and community.    During our meeting we introduced specific suggestions where we can work to develop creative ways to inspire our peers.   Over the next few weeks, The Bruin Fan Alliance will introduce many of these programs and welcomes your input and involvement.

The entire BFA Advisory Board wishes to express a great deal of appreciation to the UCLA Athletic Department for their willingness review our Alliance community’s voice and engage in respectful dialogue in response to the information presented.

Please review the Power Point presentation.  It’s now time for us to embark on our stated mission to inspire UCLA supporters everywhere!

Go Bruins!
